Bolin Creek Greenway Phase III

Chapel Hill, North Carolina

The Feasibility Study for of Bolin Creek Greenway Phase III was designed to determine the best available route for the planned extension of the existing greenway, including spur connections to existing public facilities in dense urban areas of Chapel Hill and the adjacent Town of Carrboro. The feasibility study will provide the Town of Chapel Hill with a sound base for allocation of public funds and development of construction documents.

Preliminary routes, utilizing existing public rights-of-way, sanitary sewer easements and other town properties, were mapped and studied in detail, including extensive field investigation. Proposals included at-grade street crossings, prefabricated bridges, tunnels and viaduct construction on steep slopes. Structural engineering studies and digital floodway models were prepared to ensure technical feasibility and compliance with local and state regulations. Detailed budgetary estimates were also included.
