Carpenter Fire Station Road Park

Cary, North Carolina

Surface 678 is working with the Town of Cary to create master plans for two twenty-acre neighborhood parks located approximately two miles from each other. Guided by a public meeting process, the Town’s goal is to develop site specific master plans with a range of community supported amenities and diverse programming to differentiate the park experiences.

Utilizing the accommodating site grading, Carpenter Fire Station Road Park will feature athletic amenities including a youth baseball complex designed with flexibility in mind to allow the multipurpose outfield areas to accommodate additional sports or activities. The design accommodates accessibility from the parking areas, pedestrian connectivity with the surrounding neighborhood and preserves the canopy of existing oak trees along the north, south, and east edges of the park. Park amenities include an open lawn, play areas, an educational stormwater component integrated with a historic dam overlook, and connections to the future Panther Creek Greenway on the southeast edge of the site.
