Surface 678 developed a materials and landscape plan for a new $47,400,000, 165,184 square foot, 600-bed residence hall at Western Carolina University. The Levern Hamlin Allen Residence Hall is located on the upper Main Campus and replaces Buchanan Residence Hall. The project was phased to allow the residents of Buchanan to remain until they were relocated to Phase I of the new building. Surface created open space in the upper campus precinct, including open quadrangle space, connections to the dining facility, and enhancing the living and studying experience of students at the university
