Dietrick Hall is a welcoming, people-centric, multi-purpose plaza for the university community that celebrates the university’s history, tradition, and culture. Surface’s design vision includes plantings and softscape to break up a monolithic sea of concrete as well as the bars of granite paving which remains in the new design, keeping with the original character of the site. The site removed many of the concrete walls and stairs and introduced accessible paths throughout, creating a more equitable space. The plaza will offers a diverse type of space for students to enjoy daily, as well as a plaza that has the functionality to handle much larger campus gatherings and special events.
