Raleigh Union Station is a multi-modal transportation hub in downtown Raleigh that includes the adaptive reuse of the industrial Viaduct Building, rail improvements, and increased connectivity within the downtown community. Surface 678 developed the pedestrian plaza design, overall site design, and stormwater design alternatives, and also assisted in the extensive public participation process. The project not only increases ridership, provides expanded facilities for the Amtrak rail line, and encourages connectivity to other parts of downtown, but it aims to spur economic growth in this historic Raleigh area.
