The Alliance Child Crisis Center will be a residential behavioral health facility in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. The project involves the renovation of an existing building and surrounding landscape into clinical and therapy spaces for 15–20 elementary and high school-aged children. The project budget is $6.5 million, and completion is expected in fall 2021. Working with architects LS3P, Surface 678 leads the design of the landscape spaces, which include a new entry, renovated parking area, and a secure patient courtyard. The entry reflects the nature of the facility as a space for young people, with colorful paving and planting to welcome visitors to the building. In the courtyard, Surface designed a playful and engaging space for many ages, including seating, planting, and game spaces, while also designing for the safety and privacy of the young people at the facility.
