Madeira School STEAM Building

McLean, Virginia

Located outside Washington DC in McLean Virginia, The Madeira School is an elite, private, day and boarding college-preparatory school for girls in McLean, Virginia, United States. It was established in 1906 by Lucy Madeira Wing. The old science building is to be removed and replaced with a state of the art science building that both fits within the fabric of campus and allows the existing building to remain functional until the new center comes on line. The site overlooks the Potomac River and adapts to a steep topography, but delivers a new quad, promenade, event space , and maker space. The landscape character and materiality fits the character and charm of the campus. Surface 678, PA provided site planning, grading and landscape architecture.
