The Orchard Park
Originally a pecan orchard and home to the prominent Durham Carr family greenhouse, Orchard Park was developed into a municipal park in the early 1970s. Over the years the 7.5-acre park fell into disrepair, and in 2002 Surface 678 developed a master plan and design for its renovation. Children’s play elements alternate with small gardens among remnant architectural foundation walls, creating a unique maze-inspired play environment. A system of walks and paths connects the group picnic areas, open lawns, and woodlands to adjacent neighborhoods.
