Nasher Museum of Art

The Nasher Museum of Art, with its multi-faceted glass and steel roof, is a landmark for Duke University. Designed by world-acclaimed architect Raphael Vinoly, the museum stands as a building-in-a-clearing with sweeping walkways and vehicular approaches aligned to maximize the visitors’ appreciation of the building’s sculptural form. Drifts of ornamental grasses define clearings carved out of the woods for outdoor events. A series of woodland walkways reveals the episodic placement of outdoor sculpture.
